Swaroop Sagar Lake has a dam-like structure which consists of four gates. The gates will open to maintain the water levels of connecting lakes. Swaroop Sagar Lake is built by Maharana Swaroop Singh Ji. The lake is built to maintain the flood-like situation and to provide high water levels to their adjoining lakes. But post-1999, the formation of artificial lakes was banned in Udaipur and the nearby areas of the lake were declared as no construction zone.
