Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur is the second Agriculture univeristy of the state. It was came into existence on 1st november 1999. This has been done in view of Physiographic variation including crops, cropping pattern, climate, soil paarameters etc, in the largest state of the country. It was difficult to manage stipulated task of teaching, research and extension activities through a single university in the state. This university provides new fillip to location specific programs more suited to tribal belt specifically for the southern Rajasthan.
Maharana Pratap University started functioning in full swing with effect from december 1, 1999. This University is accredited and recognized by AICTE and ICAR. Maharana Pratap University offers courses in department of agriculture, food science technology, Engineering and Technology, Applied sciences.
Maharana Pratap University admissions offers to foreign students under the category of ICAR nominee or through the bilateral arrangement with the university. All admissions are made on the basis of merit of joint entrance test. Maharana Pratap University affiliated colleges are Ravindranath Tagore college of agriculture, college of horticulture and forestry, vijaya raje mahila B.Ed. college, Rajasthan college of Agriculture etc.
